Ipswitch: MOVEit Central 8.0 Increases Security
Written by Sinead Gosai from Ipswitch File Transfer.
Ipswitch File Transfer has enhanced performance, extended security functionality and added platform support with MOVEit Central 8.0, the automation engine for MOVEit, the industry’s leading Managed File Transfer (MFT) system. MOVEit Central delivers automation and intelligence to drive business processes that rely on file transfer between partners, systems and people.
MOVEit Central 8.0 powers IT organisations that rely on secure, reliable file transfer for their most important business-to-business partner exchanges. With these upgrades, MOVEit Central 8.0 takes MFT beyond the basic sharing of Electronic File Sync and Share solutions by adding automation to FTP-based solutions. This ensures files are not just secured but managed and routed to other enterprise applications as needed, freeing up valuable IT resources.
“Organisations cannot afford to deal with the cost and uncertainty of unpredictable and unsecure business processes,” said Steve Hess, vice president of product management at Ipswitch. “MOVEit Central 8.0 addresses the file transfer pain points many IT organisations face by providing an intelligent, automated solution that eliminates the risk and inefficiency associated with recurring file transfers and file-based integrations.”
Upgrades in MOVEit Central 8.0 include:
- Enhanced security designed to help IT create and control customised security policies with the ability to support larger keys and better control of SSH algorithm management.
- Improved performance with more effective management of connections, larger transfer support with configurable timeouts for all major protocols and updates to key components to improve performance and system resources.
- Additional platform support for industry platforms, including Windows Server 2012 R1, SQL Server 2012 and MySQL 5.5.
“MOVEit Central’s intuitive user interface and centralised console makes it easy to define file-based processes and get instant visibility into the movement of a large volume of files,” said Kevin Lessard, executive vice president and director of engineering for Video Express. “Having the ability to automate the transfer of such a large number of recurring items, day after day, gives us the peace of mind that the transfers will get done on time without us having to tap an extensive amount of internal resources.”
